FAQ’s
What is your fee and do you take insurance?.
Individual sessions (50 minutes): $275
Couple sessions (70 minutes) $300
Payment methods: Zelle, check, credit cards.
I do not take insurance but I will regularly provide you with a superbill, which may allow you to receive some reimbursement, depending on your insurance policy. We can discuss in greater depth the issue of insurance, so I can help you figure out the best course of action in working with your provider.
How long does therapy go on for?
In the first session, we will discuss your goals. Once you feel you have reached them, I will fully support you if you choose to discontinue therapy. Therapy should not go on longer than is necessary.
Sometimes, goals can change in the course of treatment, and we will discuss adjusting therapy to work on the new goals.
And sometimes, clients like an open-ended therapy, because they see it as a valuable tool for coping with life stresses and continued personal growth.
After the first several sessions, I will let you know my thoughts about how long an effective course of therapy will be for your particular goals, and I will give you an estimated total cost. If that changes as we continue to work together, I will discuss that with you.
My goal is to make therapy the safe place where you can say anything and you never have to worry about my judging you.
I see that you specialize in working with men. Do you also work with women?
I DEFINITELY WORK WITH WOMEN, AND HAVE THROUGHOUT MY CAREER
Because I am also a researcher, I have learned a lot about how childhood socialization experiences affect all genders. Much of my research has been on the topic of men and masculinity, which is why it’s one of my specialty areas.
But in my clinical practice, I have worked extensively with women as well, and I bring to my work an awareness of how our culture can teach women to feel disempowered and that their voices do not count. And I value the important role of human connection in women’s psychological as well as physical well-being.
